Title I and LAP

Title I

Title I is a federally-funded program that provides reading and mathematics assistance at Salish Coast Elementary and Blue Heron School.  Title 1 provides extra assistance to students who are not yet performing on grade level.  Students receive supplemental instruction from certificated reading and math specialists and highly qualified, trained para educators.

A combination of data is used from measures such as Measurement of Student Progress (MSP), Star Reading and Math Assessments, Reading Running Records, and kindergarten math and reading screening tools. The students most in need are the first served and instruction is individualized to help them succeed. Whether in math or reading, Title I classes use curricula and provide learning opportunities that supplement, complement and reinforce grade level learning expectations. This program includes a significant parent involvement component.  An annual meeting is held to provide information about the school's participation in Title I, Part A programs.  Parents may request regular meetings.  Parents may find useful information to support student learning at the OSPI website:  http://www.k12.wa.us/TitleI/ParentFamilyEngagement/default.aspx

Please contact your school directly for information about individual student achievement.  Information about district-wide student achievement can be found at the OSPI Report Card.  https://washingtonstatereportcard.ospi.k12.wa.us

Parents of Title I, Part A students may request, and the school will provide, certain information on the professional qualifications of the student's classroom teachers and paraprofessionals providing services to children.  Please contact the Director of Title I/LAP services for more information at (360) 379-4501.

Please see the OSPI website for information about written complaint procedures for resolving issues of violation(s) of a federal statute or regulation that applies to federal programs.  http://www.k12.wa.us/TitleI/CitizenComplaint.aspx
