Salish Coast Elementary Garden Work Party
In the beginning of June we had an awesome group of volunteers from Windermere Real Estate come help out in the teaching garden for their community service day. We tackled some big and needed weeding projects, turned the compost, and transplanted some perennials. Our big task was preparing and clearing out space for our new garden shed! Volunteers had an introduction to our “sit spots” which is how we begin every garden class for 1-5th grade. We found a spot in the garden to sit, ground and quietly observe the garden. They also got to try some iced tea made from the garden herbs! We are always looking for volunteers to help maintain the teaching garden and assist in garden classes.
